Governor Ottichilo Assents to The Appropriation Bill 2022/2023 Fiscal Year

Vihiga county governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo on 10th May 2023 assented to the Appropriation Bill 2022/2023 Fiscal Year of the Second Supplementary Budget in an event held at the county headquarters and witnessed by the Vihiga county assembly leadership led by the speaker Hon. Christopher Omulele CBS.

Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Ottichilo said that a huge chunk of the allocated funds will go towards settling historical pending bills and enhancing staff salaries.

“Our interest as a government is to ensure that we pay pending bills so that when we move forward, we will have reduced the debts. I, therefore, request our chief officers in the various departments to fast-track the processes so that we pay most of our pending bills.” H.E. Dr. Wilber Ottichilo

The governor applauded the Vihiga County Assembly on the way they transact their business and urged the two arms to maintain a good working relationship in order to optimally serve the people of Vihiga. However, the governor asked the assembly to carry out their oversight role and correct the executive whenever they go wrong.

Vihiga County Assembly Speaker Hon Christopher Omulele on his part advocated for a positive mind amongst County leaders in order to offer what is good for the people. Omulele applauded the finance team for ensuring constant consultations during the preparation of the second supplementary.

“These collaborations and constant consultations will help us reduce back and forth between the Executive and County Assembly hence faster decision making.” Hon Chris Omulele
