The new Amatsi water services Company Ltd. Managing Director (MD) CPA Edwin Bukweye has been tasked with instituting a functional system at the company to promote transparency and accountability.

While gracing the company’s end-of-year meeting held today at Broadpark Hotel, Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo blamed past poor leadership at the company as one of the reasons that led to its dismal performance, resulting in a series of audit queries.

‘I was prompted to set up a Taskforce to investigate the company’s operations and I want to report here that we are going to implement the committee’s recommendations,’ Said the Governor.

Dr. Ottichilo also took the opportunity to outline the milestones in the Water sector including the completion of the Vihiga Cluster Water Project, stating that he is working closely with the National Government Ministry of Water to ensure the implementation of last-mile connectivity as promised by the President during his past visit to Vihiga County.

In his closing remarks, the County Boss appreciated the ongoing transformation at the company, urging the company’s staff to accord the new management maximum support and embrace teamwork to ensure the provision of clean and safe water to Vihiga residents as outlined in his manifesto.

Finally, he handed over the County water bowser to the company as one way of boosting its revenue collection which has since increased from Kshs. 3.5M to Kshs. 5M in the past two months.
