Vihiga County Bodaboda SACCO (VICBOSA) was registered in January 2021 and derives its membership from all the 5 sub-counties of Vihiga. The SACCO Membership number has grown from 370 to 770 and their Loan portfolio now stands at Kshs. 5 million.

The SACCO has embraced digitization and has committed to a digital company(Onfon) that is developing suitable software for VICBOSA.

VICBOSA joined KUSCCO Limited and is saving with them for more benefits and financial boosts. The SACCO has also partnered with PAYGRAND for mobile lending which is at the testing stage.

Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo congratulated VICBOSA for being a very well-organized group with a chairperson who is focused and has a clear plan for the Bodabodas.
He noted that it is quite encouraging that in less than 2 years, SACCO’s savings have increased by over 300%.
“I also want to encourage our people that saving is the way to go. Ensure that for every money you get, save at least 10โ .” The governor said as he encouraged members and the people of Vihiga not to fear taking up loans as long as they have a clear plan with the funds.
His Excellency urged those people who benefitted from the trade and enterprise funds to make an effort and pay so that the funds can revolve and help other people.
“We have put in Kshs. 20 million to the fund in the financial yr 2023-2024 so that we can lend out to businesses and youth.
We have also formed a cooperative fund and youth start-up fund that will be issued to our people after they have been trained so that they do business and grow our economy in Vihiga.” Added governor Ottichilo
In his concluding remarks, the governor informed the Bodaboda Sacco members that the County Government of Vihiga is exploring ways of ensuring that roads are maintained by collecting our own revenue from the sector and using it to maintain roads.
“I have committed to having at least 20 revenue clerks recruited from the Bodaboda sector so that they carry out collection from their peers.” He assured
